Partnerships

For years, patient education was seen as a nice-to-have. Something bolted on after the consultation — a pamphlet on the counter, or a page buried on a website. And like clean energy once was, it wasn’t considered profitable.

But the penny has dropped. Just as clean energy has shifted from being “nice but costly” to essential and commercially viable, so too is health literacy emerging as both a clinical and financial imperative. The logic is simple: when patients understand their health, outcomes improve, trust grows, systems work better, and costs reduce. The more we embrace health literacy as central to care — measure outcomes, fine-tune approaches, consolidate delivery, and leverage AI — the clearer it becomes: health literacy makes sense for both patients and providers.

And critically, it helps patients take greater responsibility for their own health. By giving people the right information at the right time, we equip them to act — turning passive patients into active partners in building healthier futures.

Dis-Chem was the early mover, incorporating our e-brochures into their website in 2020. Gaining momentum since then has been an uphill slog. Healthcare is conservative, systems are often complex and slow, with legacy platforms and conflicting priorities that require leadership buy-in. But things are turning. *Trusted content is becoming an expected part of care.

Recent partnerships include Unjani Clinics, the NHC Clinic Group, and Baby City. Soon, GEMS will become the first health funder to provide our education directly through their apps and website. And with a growing pipeline of integrations — alongside broader access to data and smart devices — we believe we can reach our vision of more than 50% of the population having access to HCP-driven patient education at point of care in the markets we serve.

Combining forces

Forward-thinking providers — whether hospitals, pharmacies, clinic networks, or funders — are realising that offering patients credible, protocol-aligned health education is one of the lowest-hanging fruits for improving care. It has become a key marker of quality, modernity, and patient trust.

Developing credible content is, of course, expensive, time-consuming, and requires ongoing review. That’s where partnerships like Medinformer make sense. We deliver evidence-based, HCP-endorsed health education that integrates seamlessly into partner platforms. To patients, it feels like it comes directly from their trusted clinic, pharmacy, or funder. Meanwhile, our partners can focus on their core business while still providing patients with the necessary knowledge.

And the timing couldn’t be better. With AI reshaping how information is created and consumed, healthcare mustn’t lose its human core. The connection between trusted HCPs and credible information must remain central. Those at the front of this wave will use AI to enhance — not replace — care, delivering more personalised, finely tuned health journeys at scale.

By combining forces — providers, funders, and technology — we can move faster, go further, and build nations of health-conscious people.

The penny has dropped. Health literacy is no longer optional. It’s the bridge between good care and great outcomes. And those investing now are positioning themselves as the true leaders of tomorrow’s healthcare.
